NESSET PRESTEGARD
Nesset Vicarage
Here at Nesset vicarage, one of the most scenic farms in the country, situated broad chested between two fjords that meet, with green mountains above, waterfalls and farms on the opposite shore, rolling hills and life on the valley floor, overlooking the fjord with mountains with headlands protruding out into the sea and big farms on each..- here in Nesset my impressions grew.
This is how Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson describes his childhood home, the Nesset vicarage in the short story "Blakken". (The Dun Horse)
Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832-1910) was the great patriotic poet of Norway from the mid 19th century to his death, and has since then been one of "The Four Greats" in Norwegian literature. His writing was extensive, and he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1903
